There was a time when I imagined the world in a totally different way. I was a kid, around 8 years old or something and my notion of space was very limited. At this time, I was thinking that the street I was living in was the whole country and the town was the world.

About 20 years ago when I started editing pictures of this series, I noticed that the place where the photographs were made had a very little importance in my work, as I was always attracted by the same subjects.

This gave me the idea that these pictures drew a sort of imaginary map of a completely fictive continent, a place which only existed in my mind. That’s how « Les limites du territoire » began.
