At the beginning, this project was a video I made for a group show. The idea was to ask several video artists to work on one of the pieces from J. S. Bach’s "The Well-Tempered Clavier".

I was in Brittany at the time and decided to capture silhouettes on the beach using a DV camera. Since I was shooting from a great distance, I had to use the digital zoom a lot, which made the silhouettes look like abstract spots of color.

Strangely, even though I couldn’t see any details, it was still very easy to understand what was happening or who those people were.

Maybe the lack of definition in the image encourages the viewer to imagine a story, to fill in what is not conveyed by the image itself.
